George Marley, the owner of The Coin Market, LLC was born in
Yakima and is a graduate of Washington State University. He
began collecting coins in the early 1960’s when he was just a
youngster. He began running ads in local newspapers buying
coins in the early 1970’s and moved to Lynnwood in 1977 and
became a partner in his first coin shop venture (JD Coin). After
selling the shop in 1981, he spent several years traveling the west
coast buying coins at coin shops from Bellingham to Southern
California. During this time he attended many of the larger coin
shows throughout the country and knows and has done business
with scores of national dealers. He opened his second shop (The
Coin Vault) in Yakima in 1985 and sold it in 1989 and went to work
for the largest dealer in Spokane (American Coin & Vault). After
moving back to Lynnwood in 2002, he worked for 2 1/2 years for
prominent northwest wholesale dealer Gene L Henry before
opening The Coin Market in early September of 2005. George
became a member of the Pacific Northwest Numismatic
Association (PNNA) in the 1970's and became a Life Member in
the American Numismatic Association (ANA) in 1988.
Russ Ridderbusch joined the team at The Coin Market in late
March 2006. He was born and raised in the area and has also
been collecting coins since he was a youngster. And get this, he is
a 3-time Seattle Chess Club Champion! He and George worked
together at JD Coin in the late 70's and early 80's and Russ
managed and later owned the newly named Lynnwood Coin
Galleries when George sold his interest in 1981. Since that time,
he's worked on his own buying and selling coins at many of the
coin shops, coin shows, and pawn shops in the Northwest. He
deals in all U.S coins/currency and foreign coins/currency. Russ is
also a member of the PNNA and a Life Member of the ANA.
Sarah Hoff joined our staff in November of 2007. Among her
duties are waiting on customers at the front counter, purchasing
coins and bullion at the counter, and managing our supply, proof
and un-circulated single coin inventories, and proof and mint set
inventories. In addition, she is our primary buyer of scrap gold.
She's been working here for nearly four years and is learning all
about dealing in coins and bullion and recently became a Life
Member of the ANA and the PNNA. Plus, she's a proud new
mommy...giving birth to her first child, Riley Elizabeth (simply
adorable), on December 9th, 2010!
Charles VanOrsdol came on board on the 9th of August. He had
no experience in the coin or bullion business when he started here
but is catching on quickly. He's primarily working the counter and
taking on some of the duties previously handled by Sarah such as
working up our late date B.U. and Proof Singles as well as the
State, Territory, National Park Quarters and Presidential Dollars.
He is a welcome addition to the crew here and certainly helps with
the increase in business we've experienced lately.
George and Russ each bring over 35 years of knowledge and
experience to the business. Everyone working here loves coins
and currency and working here at The Coin Market is the logical
culmination of many years learning and dealing in them. The goal
is simple, provide the local collector a friendly and fair place to
buy and sell coins and bullion and currency…and have fun doing
it! You'll be treated with respect and fairness when dealing at The
